Description
On June 29, 1946, Cora Colstad, while employed as a grader for the California Packing Co. at Arlington, was injured. The neck of the femur of her left leg was fractured. She was confined in the hospital at Poynette for about two months, then at her home for a month and then she was taken to St. Marys hospital at Madison, where surgery was performed. After five months it was found that there was a resulting shortening of the left leg of one and one-half inches. The fracture did not unite. She has never been able to walk without crutches and has not resumed employment. There was no change in the condition of the leg for about two years prior to the hearing, in July 1952, before the industrial commission. Further surgery had been suggested, but was rejected by Mrs. Colstad.
